Today, more than ever, Europe needs strong local partnerships that promote mutual understanding, peace, and cooperation in addressing shared local and global challenges. Twinning remains one of the most effective and irreplaceable tools available to local governments. For this reason, and with the support of the European Commission, CEMR has launched a new digital Matchmaking Platform.
To support municipalities in using the new platform, CEMR is organising an online information session.
During the session, we will present the main features of the Matchmaking Platform and explain how to register and use it. The session is open to all local government stakeholders interested in joining the platform. Please feel free to share this invitation within your networks.

Covenant of Mayors Webinar Series: Private capital to support climate action
The Covenant of Mayors is accompanying its signatories and their supporters and their coordinators in the adaptation process, as they are working across Europe to develop ambitious actions and SECAPs. These series of webinars are designed to help signatories identify and exploit different sources of financing to deliver actions from their cities’ SECAP, and looking at the role that the private sector can play. The following webinar will focus on innovative finance for cities in transition, especially the bonds. Private capital can support climate action in diverse ways, and bonds are a tool that cities and municipalities can use to finance their transition. Bonds can be seen as an innovative way to fund the climate and energy transition of local and regional governments. By ensuring the inclusion of private actors in the transition process, cities can gain access to new opportunities. This inclusion is also a way to ensure private actors can comprehend the full circle of needs and realities of cities and municipalities.

“Co-Creating Climate Action: Justice-Centred Leadership for Local Governments”
This Climate Academy is important because it equips local governments with the tools to co-create climate action that is equitable, inclusive, and grounded in real community needs. By centering justice-centered leadership, it ensures that those most affected by climate change, women, youth, and marginalised communities, are actively shaping solutions, not just impacted by them. The academy bridges global climate commitments and European policy frameworks with practical, locally driven action through shared learning and concrete case studies. It also strengthens local capacity and decentralised cooperation, helping elected representatives design climate policies that are more effective, democratic, and resilient over time.
