Event Details
As part of Democracy Week Euskadi, this high-level event brings together institutions, experts, and elected representatives to explore how to strengthen democracy at the local level. Hosted in Bilbao, the gathering combines political dialogue, expert insight, and contributions from a new generation of local leaders.
The highlight of the day will be the official presentation of the European Observatory for the Defence of Democracy at the Local Level (ODELL). ODELL aims to reinforce public trust and democratic resilience by supporting municipalities and communities in responding to current challenges such as disinformation, democratic disengagement, and governance under pressure.
Participants can expect a dynamic programme including institutional exchanges, reflections from young elected representatives, and discussions with leading academics and practitioners. The event offers both strategic vision and practical perspectives on safeguarding democracy as a shared, everyday responsibility rooted in local governance.
