Funding opportunities: still time to register for the Covenant of Mayors Open Days event!

Is one of your municipalities or regions looking for funding or examples of best practices to help implement their sustainable energy action plans? Then they should attend the Covenant of Mayors event held on 10 October 2012, in the framework of the Committee of the Regions’ Open Days.

The session will focus on the importance of European Union funding and innovative financing schemes to ensure the success and expansion of the Covenant of Mayors.

A number of local elected representatives who have used EU funding for the implementation of their city’s action plan will notably present their experiences at this occasion.  These include:

Albert Bore, Mayor of Birmingham (UK), Executive President of CEMR, CoR Member
Detelina Nikolova, Mayor of Dobrich (BG), CoR Member
Evelyne Huytebroeck, Regional Minister for Environment, Energy and Urban Renewal, Brussels Capital Region (BE), CoR Member
Gil Nadais, Mayor of Águeda (PT)
Giorgio Orsoni, Mayor of Venice (IT), Vice-President of CEMR

The event is one of 108 seminars to take place in Brussels during the 10th European week of regions and cities, this year dedicated to the theme Europe’s regions and cities: making a difference.  The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) is also co-organising the main Open Days seminar on local development as a key pillar of EU cohesion policy.
