Help Romanian towns and regions hit by severe floods

The National Union of County Councils of Romania has opened a humanitarian account to help local governements in Romania handle a wave of disastrous flooding affecting the North-East of the country.

Since the second half of.July, disastrous flooding has led to material damages and loss of human lives. Some 125 000 hectares of land, 8 500 households and over 1 000 km of roads and 1 000 bridges have been affected by abundant rains. Also, the communications and water supply infrastructures have been damaged.

The President of the National Union of County Councils of Romania, Liviu Nicolae Dragnea has stated that the resources of any region are limited when facing natural disasters that choose their victims randomly. We think that solidarity is one of the dimensions of the European identity and any kind of help for those in need will prove that together we can handle natural disasters, even if they don't affect us directly.

For any initiative of solidarity for the families and persons affected by the natural disaster, the Union of County Councils of Romania (UNCJR) has opened a humanitarian account: RO16RNCB0245036725180007.

For further details concerning possible technical assistance, please contact Aurel Trandafir, representative of the National Union of County Councils of Romania in Brussels or the UNCJR secretariat in Romania.
