Our Impact Communities

CEMR work covers a broad spectrum of topics vital to local and regional governments and their national associations. Everything we do serves one purpose: to empower Europe’s towns, cities, and regions to shape a more sustainable, inclusive, and democratic future for their communities.

We organise our activities around four impact communities:

This structure allows us to respond effectively to the complex and interconnected challenges facing local and regional governments.

What does this mean in practice?

For each topic, we:

Advocate for the interests of towns, cities, and regions at the EU and international levels.
Bring together experts and elected representatives to define common positions and share knowledge through CEMR expert groups.
Lead projects and programmes that pilot innovation and support capacity-building in towns, cities and regions.
Produce studies and publications that provide evidence and help shape the narrative across the thematic areas in which we work.
Animate the community with specific events to give visibility to the work we do under the different thematics.
