Conference “Towards environmentally friendly mobility in our cities” (Stuttgart: 1-4 June)

The City of Stuttgart is co-organising the 2008 World Congress of the global Network Cities for Mobility, in Stuttgart from 1 to 4 June 2008.
 
The event "Towards environmentally friendly mobility in our cities" aims to bring together local and regional governments, but also other partners from business, science and society to discuss the interplay of "traffic and the environment" in cities.
 
In the various sessions and workshops participants will have the opportunity to learn about concrete projects of local governments which promote sustainable forms of urban mobility. The workshops serve as a forum for the five thematic clusters of Cities for Mobility* and for developing new project ideas.
 
The World Congress 2008 is addressed to local and regional governments, mobility experts as well as representatives from business, research, and civil society.
 
Key speakers will include the Vice President of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) and Mayor of the City of Stuttgart, Wolfgang Schuster ; Minister President of Baden-Württemberg, Günther H. Oettinger MdL ; Mayor of the City of Belo Horizonte (Brazil), Fernando Pimentel ; Mayor of the City of Saitama (Japan), Soichi Aikawa ; as well as representatives from the United Nations.
