This meeting will bring together members of CEMR’s Standing Committee for Equality of Women and Men in local life and the Gender Equality Expert Group. The Standing Committee provides a frame for the political involvement of CEMR members on gender equality, supporting the implementation of the European Charter on Equality. The Expert Group allows members to discuss policy developments in gender equality at the policy and technical levels.
This meeting takes place in a key political context, marked by the new European Commission Gender Equality Strategy and the upcoming 20th anniversary of the European Charter for Equality of Women and Men in Local Life.
