CEMR expresses its condolences to Norwegian citizens
The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) expresses its deep sorrow and solidarity with the people of Norway, hit by a shooting and bombing tragedy on Friday 22 July 2011.
On behalf of CEMR, Wolfgang Schuster, its president and mayor of Stuttgart, addressed a letter of condolences to the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities (KS).
'It is impossible to seek to understand such acts of gratuitous violence. These terrible events remind us of how much democracy, peace and harmony are values that must be secured in the face of ignorance, fear and hate," declared the president of CEMR.
