Advocacy

We advocate for the priorities and needs of local and regional governments at European and global levels.

Together with our member associations, which operate at the national level, we shape the EU and global agenda. We amplify the voice of local leaders and ensure that towns, cities, and regions are fully included in decision-making at European and international levels.

In Brussels, our main interlocutors are the EU institutions and bodies. CEMR is also the European section of the world organisation United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG), through which we represent European local and regional governments on the international stage.

Expert groups

Our expert groups are one of our key advocacy tools. They help structure our work in each thematic, including the development of position papers and the strategies to ensure effective action across different policy portfolios.

Expert groups are open exclusively to our members. If you would like to be involved or require further information, please get in touch with us

Spokespersons 2026-2028

Our spokespersons are local elected representatives from CEMR’s member associations who represent and defend CEMR positions across different thematics at the public stage.
