Mission Implementation Platform (MIP4Adapt)

The need for climate support has never been more urgent. In 2023 alone, Europe recorded 47,690 additional heat‑related deaths, while climate‑related disasters have cost over €738 billion since 1980. A recent study estimates that €70 billion per year will be needed up to 2050 to adapt Europe to growing climate risks.

Against this backdrop, CEMR steps up its action by joining the EU Mission Implementation Platform for Adaptation to Climate Change (MIP4Adapt), supporting European regional and local governments in preparing and planning their adaptation pathways to climate resilience.

What does MIP4Adapt do?

The Mission Implementation Platform (MIP4Adapt) is the central hub supporting European local and regional governments as they navigate the challenges of a changing climate. MIP4Adapt delivers this support by:

Bringing the EU Adaptation Mission Community together, creating opportunities to collaborate, learn, and share experience.
Showcasing insights from EU‑funded Mission Projects, making sure knowledge flows across Europe.
Providing practical guidance, tools, data, and project information (Knowledge hub) through the Mission Portal.
Offering tailored support to Charter Signatories, including help with Funding & financing and Stakeholder & citizen engagement.
Communicating the Mission’s progress and successes through the Portal, Newsletters, and active social media outreach.
Organising major events, including the annual Mission Forum and Regional Forums, to strengthen networks and momentum.
Operating a dedicated Helpdesk (Contact us), giving all interested stakeholders a clear entry point for assistance on climate adaptation.
Monitoring and reporting on progress (Reporting) to ensure the Mission stays on track and continues to deliver measurable impact.

Who delivers MIP4Adapt?

MIP4Adapt is implemented by Ricardo, part of WSP, an environmental sustainability consultancy with extensive experience in supporting international and bilateral development partners, the European Commission, national, subnational, and local governmental bodies, as well as the private sector, in relation to all aspects of climate adaptation planning.
