Guiding Ukrainian cities towards climate neutrality and reinforcing multilevel partnerships

May 2024 - April 2028

Sustainable Urban Net Zero Network for Ukraine (SUN4Ukraine) is a four-year project with an overarching objective to associate Ukrainian cities with cities that are part of the EU Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.

SUN4Ukraine will assist selected Ukrainian cities with designing Climate Neutrality Plans and integrating these plans into their reconstruction strategies, providing technical support

A tailored capacity building programme, designed by the multidisciplinary SUN4Ukraine consortium, will use a variety of learning formats and leverage collective expertise from organisations across the EU and Ukraine. A Ukrainian Cities Climate Hub will be established to expand knowledge and support to a larger number of Ukrainian cities.

A key component is the Partnership Programme, pairing Ukrainian cities with cities part of the EU Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities, to facilitate knowledge exchange with EU counterparts.

In the project, CEMR will coordinate the multilevel governance, policy and partnerships aspects, establishing multi-level climate and energy dialogues on best practices for a just transition and developing policy recommendations, among other tasks.
